The Wedding Album

So I'm a big fan of wedding albums, and it's my professional and personal opinion that every bride and groom should have one. This one in particular:

Why? Because they are the end result of one of the most meaningful days of your lives. Think about it- you've been planning every little last detail for years (c'mon ladies, you know we've all been planning our weddings since we were five) You might think you'll do your own album after things calm down, but the truth is- life happens. Kirkland Washington Engagement Session: Laura and Tyler

This couple is all kinds of cool. I was so excited when they said they wanted to include their "baby" in some of their engagement shots. (Their 'baby' being a large- and adorable- canine) Love it!
Due to some unlucky Seattle weather, we had to reschedule their engagement session more than once. Thankfully, we finally got this perfect sunny day to get some great engagement pictures of the bride and groom to be! They have some AMAZING plans for their August wedding, and I'm so excited to capture it all! Keep an eye out for their wedding pictures this summer. :)

Just 2 days old, and we're already wrapped around his little finger. Born 4-15, our little "tax baby" was 8lbs 6oz. Thank you so much for all the notes, thoughts, and prayers. Moses Lake Engagement Portraits: Mariel and Nate

For one of my last portrait sessions before my maternity leave (no baby yet, by the way- the little bugger has missed his due date!) I met this sweet couple in Moses Lake, WA for their engagement session. These WSU alumni are planning a summer wedding under the stars- and it sounds like it's going to be some serious fun with family and friends. We're getting pretty excited to head over the mountains for this wedding. Congratulations Nate and Mariel- you two make such a great couple and we're so excited for you!

Remember this fall newborn? At 5 months, this peanut is soooo cute. We met at the Sculpture Park on a very gray day, but this sweet little lady was so full of personality, the shots came easily. I love her baby cheeks and those looks that speak a thousand words! Judging by her portraits, she had a lot to say to me that afternoon! :)

Seattle Washington: Laura and David's Engagement Session

On a very wet day a couple weeks back, this soon-to-be bride and groom managed to clear the grey sky for a couple hours while we headed to the UW campus for their engagement portrait session. (Seems like I've had to chance the weather a lot lately!) I'm so glad we were blessed with a break in the rain, because these two together are nothing but love and fun. Just realized that I never posted any from this gorgeous couple's engagement session... and I just have to share. :)

I think this is my fave from the set...
...and it looked so good on their "Save the Dates". Just one more reason why everyone should have an engagement session. I matched them to her wedding colors (blue, black and white), and gave them a more casual/fun feel since the invites will be more formal. I love doing these for my couples!

I am drooling over the colors in this one...
Can't wait to see all the fun we get into on their wedding day!

Las Vegas Wedding Shoot

Okay, so I had an amazing time at WPPI this year! Aside from taking great classes, talking with amazing photographers from around the world, and picking up some awesome new gear to drool over, I did a model shoot at the Neon Sign Boneyard. I was seriously giddy shooting here. Could this site be any more fun?! Now I'm dying to photograph more weddings in Vegas, so if you know someone heading down for a weekend wedding- CALL ME! This photographer definitely travels. :) I love the bright colors and I totally lucked out on the weather (it rained most of my time in Las Vegas... but not this fabulous day). I also had some amazing models to work with- we were all cracking up the entire time! Hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Viva Las Vegas

I'll be in Las Vegas, Nevada this week for the annual WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) trade show and convention. I am so excited for all the awesome info and new goodies I'm going to bring home and pass on to my clients! I've got a packed schedule for the next few days and the laptop is staying at home, so please be patient with emails- I promise everyone will receive a reply next week. Wow, I've been awful about posting this week and I've got a ton of images I'm dying to share!...

Meet baby Keenan. His dad's a proud fireman, and he was nice enough to bring home some of his gear for Keenan to try on. I think the pants fit juuuuust right! :) He was such a sweet baby, and mom did such a good job of keeping him content. And check out my new diaper cover- isn't it suhweet?! Perfect for pictures of your little one when the Huggies cartoon characters are driving you nuts! My sister-in-law is making these, and a little bird told me they'll be available for sale soon. Meet Kyle and Andi. These two already have a special place in my heart- they are both finishing up at WSU. (Go Cougs!) This fall, these two will be tying the knot at Echo Falls Golf Course in Snohomish- can we say gorgeous? I can't wait to see it all come together- keep your eye out for these two on the blog this fall!
For their engagement session, we headed to Gas Works Park earlier this month. They braved the cold wind like champs, and we ended up with some great pictures... and you can't even see the goose bumps. :) Check them out below:

Chelan Washington: Engagement Session

Lindsay and Nate are our two of our best friends. They're getting married this summer in Spokane, Washington and I can't wait for their wedding. While I won't be able to photograph their wedding because I'm in the bridal party, we made some time for some engagement pictures in Chelan. The winter weather and beautiful vineyards made for some awesome shoot locations (I love winter portraits!), and our session was non-stop laughs (thanks to my husband tagging along for this one). With the flurry of fall and winter portrait sessions, I never got a chance to post about this beautiful fall wedding. I adore this couple- two of the most genuine and fun loving people I've worked with. Their wedding was equally as charming, with stunning scenery and wide open spaces. It couldn't have been more perfect, and I'm glad I was able to photograph such a day. Here come the pictures:

Their reception was a blast! First of all, I heard some of the most touching speeches that day. The mother of the groom even had me in tears. It was the most sincere and heart-felt speech I have heard at a wedding- what every bride would want to hear from their new mother-in-law.
And as tradition, after dinner there was lots of dancing. The dance floor was packed as everyone cut loose under the light of the lanterns and stars. The final treat was hearing the groom's band play. If you don't all ready know them, you have to check these guys out: Trolls Cottage They are seriously awesome, and I am still trying to get my hands on a CD. :)

We were lucky enough to get some family portraits in between all the gloomy weather- the rain started coming down just as we were finishing. I'm so glad the clouds were good to us- it made for some great images!

If you've had a recent portrait session, you may have noticed that my mid section is looking a little rounder these days. We have a little piece of news: we're expecting a little guy this spring. (Thanks for the t-shirt mom- it's always good to clarify)

What this means for spring sessions: I will be taking all of April and May off for maternity leave, and possible the last week or two of March. So, if you are thinking spring for your next portrait session, you'll want to schedule your March and June sessions now. My spring calendar is starting to fill up, so the sooner you contact me, the better the chance you'll get the date you need. This is especially important for my "Baby's First Year" portrait packages if your 6 month or 12 month sessions fall around this time.

And one last thing- I'll be out of the office through Sunday, so please be patient with emails this week. :)

Okay, on to the fun stuff- photography! Here's a few of this Mercer Island cutie. His one-year portraits were a whirlwind- they always keep me running at this age. :)

He's growing up! Here are a few from his 6 month session. We managed to get these during the only rain-free hour of the day, and I'm SO glad we took our chances. They are some of my favorite. I had fun meeting up with this family again for some Christmas portraits. Last year it was just the two kiddos, but they've got a new baby brother to play with now- and he's such a cutie. We hit the parks in Kirkland, and I am loving these shots. :)

Here's the precious new arrival. A sweet little girl who has two adorable brothers and a lovely set of parents.I love how this one turned out. He did such a good job holding her. He was holding back giggles trying not to wake her. I think it is incredibly sweet. Definitely a framer.

Yup, in ten years the girls are going to be chasing these two. :)

There's something really special about how parents look at a new baby. It gets me every time.

I am loving these fall sessions, and with a few exceptions, we've done a pretty good job at dodging the rain! We headed to Newcastle Beach Park for this session- such a pretty spot. And these kiddos were so good to me- they always had a laugh ready.

We did this engagement session on Alki for A and S- Aren't they lookin' good? I loved A's dress, and of course, those shoes! Lord Hill Farms: Snohomish Wedding

This wedding was so special. You might remember this adorable couple from HERE. I felt an instant connection at our first meeting, and was so thrilled to shoot their wedding. They both are so warm and welcoming- the show of friends and family on their big day was an obvious testament to this. I've never seen such a long line of people waiting to speak at their reception- each with their own reasons why they make up a perfect pair. I couldn't agree more.

This ceremony was the sweetest combination of romance and joy- complete with a band and dancing down the aisle.

... and these gals were having too much fun getting ready for the events.

I always love the big exits. One last chance for the bride and groom to be smothered with good wishes and love. These guys had a pretty thick screen of bubbles to get through!

Congratulations you guys! I couldn't be happier for you.

Portland Oregon: Double Wedding Weekend

Think two sisters getting married in the same weekend is crazy? Nope- such a blast! These two girls made some gorgeous brides, and it was such an honor to witness their days! I had so much fun at these weddings. Each was unique, beautiful, and absolutely romantic. The weekend was wonderful- we couldn't have had any better weather, and things seemed to play out just perfectly. Congratulations ladies! Here come the pictures...

Seattle Washington Family Portraits: Bright Eyes, Round 3

You might remember this face from HERE or HERE. This family is moving to St. Louis, but they wanted one more Seattle portrait session before they went. Of course, I was thrilled- this cutie is so much fun, and I love to watch the little ones grow and change! And believe me, this girl is on the move now! No longer are the days of those easy 6-month portraits, where I could plop her in one spot and shoot. I think this happened 10 times- she would wiggle loose and just come running down the hill at me. Haha, I loved it, and she was definitely loving it!

I think this must be my favorite from the set. Such genuine smiles from mom and daughter .There was a very lively game of sock puppets. TOO cute. :)

This really made me giggle- We kept trying to get her to stand or sit, but she just kept scooting down like this and giving me the biggest grin. She's got such a personality. I think it totally works.

So they won't forget their time in Seattle...

I've said it before, but I just melt for those bright eyes.

Thanks to the D family for another wonderful time. I'll miss seeing your bright faces, and I wish you safe travels and fun in St. Louis!

Meet my big brother.

F-16 pilot for the U.S. Air Force.
When I look at these pictures, I can't believe it's the same boy that use to get in hair-pulling fights with me, wear MC Hammer pants, and do Urkel impressions. But there he is- a grown man who makes sacrifices for our country daily, and serves without question. He makes me so proud, and I couldn't be more grateful for his efforts.
Love you bro.

Another pilot and friend.The McChord Air Force Base Air Show- All day long there were long lines of people waiting to shake the hand of these two. This boy had 20 questions for him, and my brother answered every one with a smile. It made me smile too.

New Website!

Finally! After hours and hours and HOURS of work, the new website is live.

There are still a couple kinks- on some screens you will get some cropping of the logo and menu buttons when you view it in the same window. If you choose "enter full screen" you shouldn't have this issue at all. I'll be correcting this shortly, but I just couldn't wait any longer to launch.

I am most excited about the new client galleries. I now offer password protected galleries, as well as online ordering- prints, products, and packages. Take a look around, and let me know if you experience any problems so I can correct them.

Here are some more from this engagement portrait session on Alki in Seattle. Now this one was fun! Aren't they cute??! These two were so natural together- without much coaching from me, they were cuddling, holding hands, and sharing those "love looks". We slowly made our way from one side of Alki to the other. Then we ended the evening at Salty's to discuss all the fun details of their wedding and grab a drink. These two quickly won me over, and I couldn't be more excited for their beautiful wedding!

I had so much fun meeting this family. I arrived to find two adorable little ballerinas who were eager to show me both their home and their dance moves. I was easily wrapped around their fingers! They have some pretty cool parents too, and I could tell right away that this group has some good times together!

Here are a few more from that cute "alley angel". This little lady will have a new baby brother in less than a month, so we did some maternity shots for her mama as well. What a precious family- such warm and friendly people. I had a blast running after this cutie at Pike Place Market, and I can't wait to meet the new arrival! Thanks you guys- it was such a pleasure!

... I have to take a minute to talk about engagement sessions. I think they are so important that I include them in all of my wedding photography packages. Here are a few reasons why:

1. I have a blast doing them! Seriously- we have fun!
2. It's a chance for us to get to know each other better before your wedding day. I get to see how fabulous you are, along with what kinds of images you're after, what you like, what you hate, and what you're up for when it comes to your wedding photos. This really allows me to do the best job possible on your big day. Your wedding is all about enjoying the moments, and it really helps when you already feel totally comfortable with your wedding photographer.
3. They are fun! Sorry, but it's worth repeating.
4. As much as you will love your wedding pictures, it's nice to have some images of you and your love bug in your everyday clothes. In some ways, I think engagement pictures are even more personal than your wedding photos- it's my chance to capture the two of you in your everyday duds, goofing off, at places you like (maybe actually visit regularly), when you are comfortable and relaxed. If nothing else, it gives you a little variety on your walls.
5. Perfect for that big print by your guest book.
6. Perfect for your actual guest book too. I now offer custom designed guest books featuring images from your engagement session. A fun spin on the traditional book, and your guests get a chance to check out all your hot engagement images while they sign.

Okay, I could go on forever, but you get the idea. To help illustrate my point, here are a few from S & A's engagement session in Seattle. These two were cracking me up. They totally play with each other, and you can tell they are both just giddy in love. I am so excited to photograph their wedding. It is coming up fast so check back for their wedding images soon! Seattle Washington: Vintage Baby

I love newborn sessions. There is something so special about a new baby- I can always feel so much love when I walk into the home. This session was no exception. I had such a nice time with this little guy and his family. Mom and dad were both on a "baby high" with this little one, and grandma was nothing but smitten. (so was I!) It was a delight to meet all of you, and I hope you enjoy your little sneak peek.

Mom had this baby tub that was a couple generations old, and I was just dying to process a few of these with a vintage look. I love how soft and buttery the colors are! Isn't he sweet?!

They were so sweet with each other, and they were surrounded by some pretty cool friends and family. I could tell these two were loved! Some quick updates: my husband and I are heading to Idaho for some camping and paint balling with friends (I'm just a little scared). So, I will be without internet/email until Sunday night, when I will respond to my emails in the order they were received. Thank you for your patience!

I wanted to post a couple shots for these adorable families before I left.

First there was baby J. This little cutie had his one month birthday, and is already charming the ladies- me in particular. He was so alert for most of his session, and then snuggled into my basket and took a nap. And big sister was sooo sweet (and beautiful). Could this trio be any more lovely?

And then I had these adorable sisters- they were so much fun! They played hard and giggled the whole time- a photographer's dream. They had me laughing right along with them. And did I mention how photogenic they are??! These pictures make me want to run outside and tackle a buddy. Oh, to be a child again. :)

Here are a few more of these lovebirds. Their engagement session was done on Alki in West Seattle. I think the area photographs so well- I love the city views, beaches, and parks. These two are just heartbeats away from being married. I am so excited for them! And a side note- isn't she such a classic beauty??!

Words of advice: A bunch of geese might look cute, but where there are lots of birds, there are lots of "leftovers". I headed down early to check out the locations, scout out the sweet spots, and take some test shots. Somehow when I was taking this picture, I managed to land in a little pile that one of them left behind. sooooo gross. Not the best impression to make on your engaged couple. They were awesome though- we had a good laugh and they even busted out the hand sanitizer for me! Haha, thanks for not turning around and running guys! There's nothing I won't do to get the shot. :)

Seattle Engagement Session

Luckily April showers (and May showers and June showers) bring these beautiful wild flowers. I saw this field and knew immediately that I would be bringing this couple here for portraits. These two were so sweet to each other- such a nice couple.

Urban Engagment Session: Seattle WA

This session was a blast. These guys are such a fun couple, and *so* in love. They totally trusted me and were up for anything... and when your photographer's laying down in alleys to get the shot, sometimes you wonder, hehe. (Don't worry people, I took a very hot shower when I got home)

You can hear the gentleman below on my most favorite old school radio station, Movin' 92.5. If you are in the Seattle area, you have to tune it- we're talking New Kids on the Block, Coolio, Boys II Men, TLC.... I love it. Listen to Maynard from 10am-2pm. You'll be boppin' your head and reliving your school days in no time. :)

... well, actually four with their cool dog. This family is so darn precious. I did a newborn session for them last week- their little boy C is just a sweetheart. He was very good to me- did lots of good feeding, let me snap some awake pictures, and then fell into an adorable "milk comma" for the rest of the session. All the pictures were taken around their home- there were a lot of cool places to shoot (like that awesome truck from the previous post), and I am loving the results! So here is your peek...

My good friend Amanda and her new hubby, Cory, said "I do" on the 10th, and I was lucky enough to second shoot her wedding with another great friend, the talented Raquel Leal. It was the perfect day- just the right amount of sun and clouds. The ceremony was incredibly sweet, the reception a blast, and the day filled with nothin' but love. I have been working long and hard getting these pictures ready. Moses Lake Family Session

When I'm not in Seattle, we usually head East to my home town, Moses Lake. My parents still live there, along with some great friends- like this family. I've known these guys for 10 years+, and they are always so much fun. Nena (mom) was my wedding coordinator a couple years back, and let me tell you- she is fabulous. She can make anything beautiful. You should seriously give her a call if you're looking for any kind of event planning. She also happens to be super mom- did I mention she made her daughter's outfits for this shoot???! She has such an artistic eye, so when she asked me to do her family portraits, I was more than flattered. Thanks Ryan and Nena! Here's a peek...

Just a little FYI about newborns- I've added a newborn package to my price list that includes three photo sessions in the first year, all with digital negatives on DVD and 24 custom designed birth announcements to tell the world of your special arrival. The perfect way to document your little one's first year. Birth announcements are also available a 'la carte.

Here are a few from little L's newborn session. She is such a sweet little girl- she was a real trooper while I positioned her one way, and then another. :) And mom did a great job keeping her happy. Congratulations to mom and dad! What a beautiful baby. Thanks for thinking of me- I'm looking forward to her 6 month session already!

I hope all of you mama's out there had a very wonderful Mother's Day! My husband and I went to my home town, Moses Lake, for a long weekend- it was a whirlwind, but I had so so much fun with family and friends. I was lucky enough to fit in a family session, newborn, and wedding all in two days... and I had a BLAST! I am so excited to work through all the images. (I'll be throwing a bunch on here with more details soon) I know I've been kind of bad about posting my recent sessions on here, so I pledge to get some more images up in the next week- promise. And what would this post be without an image? Here's one from my Mother's Day newborn session. She has such dainty little features- such a girl! Gorgeous comes to mind. ;)

I have had a string of the most adorable babes lately- AND I LOVE IT! Here are a few from little J's session. I had such a fun time on this shoot- he has the most lovely mom and grandma. I could have hung out all day! Such warm and welcoming people. This little guy doesn't know how lucky he is yet, but I do. :) So precious...

So we're back from Oahu- of course it was AMAZING. Here are a few of the pictures that I took on my vacation. The scenery was breathtaking!... but I'll let you decide for yourself:

Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Alright boys and girls, I am going to be out of town through the 27th of April. In case you are wondering, I am heading off to Hawaii with my hubby and our brother and sister-in-law. I am SO EXCITED because we are going to the Kokua Festival on Oahu!! Check out their website- it's for such a cool cause. Guess who's performing???....... JACK JOHNSON, DAVE MATHEWS, AND TIM REYNOLDS! Seriously?! I know. It's my DREAM concert. I can't believe we're going. I'm such a Dave and Jack fan... so imagine how thrilled I was when I went to my portrait session this morning and the (extremely cool) mother of little "J" pulled out this t-shirt:

...Yes, it says "I heart Dave Mathews... Just Like My Mommy". Perfect timing right?
